April 19th,2012 - J.E. Tuck eagled hole #11 during a practice round for the upcoming Two Ball Invitational.  Witnesses included Sam Lewis, one of our  living legends, Ronnie Crabtree and George Burton.  Congratulations  J.E.! It was a beautiful thing to see!

Congratulations to Carol Gravitt and Lorene Womble for winning the ladies member-member tournament on July 21st with a two-under par 69. Carolyn Young and Cyd Lindley were the low net winners with a 52. Second low gross went to Rita Compton and Millie Witt with a 71, and second low net was won by Kay Burton and Debi Wilkins with a 55. In the 9-hole division Pat Burgess and Maureen Gee won with a 95 and Marcia Mosby and Jackie Powell captured low net with a 66.

July 7th Senior Men 10:00AM game.  To prepare for the Hat Creek matches where everyone plays from the gold tees, players who normally play from the white tees moved up to the gold to get some experience.  There were at least two career best rounds…Bristol Martin shot 70 and George Burton shot 74.  If anyone else had a career best let me know so it can be included here.

Excitement at the Sunday game (June 26th)…Jimmy Allen had 6 double bogeys but still managed to shoot an incredible 83.   Jimmy’s 7 man team, with Leon Plaster as Captain, won best ball and points by 8.  Congratulations to the team!

Betty Caldwell and Lorene Womble posted their best career scores on Tuesday, June 14, when they traveled to Roxboro to play in the Dixie Six Tournament. Betty shot 81 and Lorene posted 77.

On Tuesday May 17th George Burton had one of his best rounds ever.  He shot 39 on the front and 39 on the back for a 78.  Based on the 11:30 game format he was +8 on his points which won him first place,  He barely edged out Hebert Gee who just returned from the Flordia tour!  Herbert was +6 and came in second.  Congratulations George and Herbert!

On Saturday May 14th, Wayne Adams provided the hightlight of the 11:30 game by eagling the 6th hole.  If Wayne continues to dominate this page we may have to change the name to “The Wayne Adams Golfing Journal”!  Congratulations Wayne!

On Tuesday May 10th, Wayne Adams put on a real show at the 11:30 game.  He shot a 40 on the front and proceeded to shoot the lights out on the back.  He bogeyed holes 15 and 17 and pared the rest for a round of 77.  I think he was real close to shooting his age.  Congratulations Wayne!

Kay Burton, B.J.Compton, Rita Compton, Rosalynde Roberton, and Lorene Womble traveled to Danville Country Club on Tuesday, May 3, for the annual ladies' invitational. Rosalynde won second low net in the third flight and Lorene won low gross in the second flight. The course was beautiful and in great condition.

Seven of our ladies traveled to Kinderton on Friday (4/29/11) to participate in the annual SPCA benefit tournament. Millie Witt, Teresa Pool, and Rosalynde Robertson were on the winning ladies team for low gross. Linda Lumsden was part of the winning ladies team for low net. Others who participated were B.J. Compton, Rita Compton, and Lorene Womble.

Sam Lewis shot 79 on Tuesday (4/26/11). Not bad for an almost 75 year old, (75 in September)He is still hitting the ball from the white tees. Maybe he can shoot his age sometime this year. Good luck Sam.
